Psalteries and Lapharps

We have several different plucked psalteries to choose from. We have Renaissance Psalteries, with the characteristic hog-nosed shape pictured in numerous medieval illustrations of psalteries being played. These psalteries are 15 string, 2 octave, key of C, but can be tuned to the key of D as well, in order to play along with mountain dulcimer players in a common tuning.  They are 28" long and 10" high, stained, with painted gold trim.

Anyone can play TK O'Briens' lapharps. Lapharps are in the key of G, have a 2 octave range with 15 strings, and come with a set of 12 songs on sheets that slide right under the strings. You start on the left side of the psaltery, and follow the progression of notes across the page. Each is under the string is to be plucked next. We have 18 different music packs for a wide range of musical tastes.These lapharps make a great gift to people with no prior music background. They are available in two models.

Folk Notes stocks autoharps by Trophy Music. These chord harps have  a bright, clear sound, maple pinblocks, and show signs of much better quality control than many similiarly priced autoharps have in recent years.  Any music books or sheet music which show the chord changes over the music score, such as scores showing guitar chords, or just the names of the chords, can be used to play the autoharp, providing the song is in a key that the autoharp is set up for. You just push down a marked chord button and strum or pinch to make a chord.  Trophy makes 15 chord and 21 chord autoharps, the 21 bar being somewhat easier to change between different keys due to a consistent pattern for the main chords in each key.

Harmonicas          

The Jailhouse Blues Harmonicas have hand tuned brass reeds recessed into a lucite body, with bolted plate covers.  Easy to play, these are the best inexpensive harmonicas I have ever played for bending notes.
